Best Windshield Replacement Companies in the USA, One per State

A good windshield replacement company in the USA is one that installs the glass correctly, recalibrates the driver assistance camera when the car has one, puts its warranty in writing and tells you plainly where it works and how. This guide names one independent, locally owned company in each of the 50 states and says what each one actually offers, based on the company’s own website.

The windshield is more than a pane of glass. In most newer cars it holds the forward-facing camera used by lane keeping and automatic emergency braking. It also helps the passenger airbag deploy in the right direction and adds strength to the roof in a rollover. That is why the installer matters as much as the glass.

How the companies on this list were chosen

Every company was checked against the same criteria, using the information it publishes on its own website, read in October 2026. No company paid to be included, and the list is not a ranking between states.

  1. Independent and based in the state. National chains, franchises, dealers and lead-generation sites were left out.
  2. Windshield replacement as a core service. The company replaces windshields itself and has a working website.
  3. ADAS calibration explained. Preference went to companies that say whether they calibrate cameras in-house and by which method.
  4. A published warranty. Preference went to warranties that say what they cover and what they exclude.
  5. Clear service area. The company says where it works and whether it offers mobile service, shop service or both.

Where a website does not state something, this guide says so instead of guessing. Ratings and review counts were left out on purpose, since they change every week.

Does a new windshield always need ADAS calibration?

A new windshield needs ADAS calibration when the car has a camera mounted behind the glass, which is the case for most vehicles with lane keeping assist or automatic emergency braking. Even a small change in the camera’s angle after the new glass goes in can shift where the system “sees” the lane, so automakers call for a calibration after replacement.

There are two methods. Static calibration uses targets placed in front of the car in a level, controlled space. Dynamic calibration is done while driving at set speeds on well-marked roads. Some vehicles need one, some need both, and some static calibrations can only be done in a shop. That is why several companies on this list calibrate some cars on a mobile visit and others only in the shop.

Will insurance pay for windshield replacement?

Insurance pays for windshield replacement when the policy includes comprehensive or glass coverage, and the deductible usually still applies. A few states, including Florida, Kentucky and South Carolina, require zero-deductible windshield coverage for drivers with comprehensive coverage. In most other states, including California and Texas, the cost depends on the driver’s own policy.

Many states also have “right to choose” or anti-steering rules, so the insurer cannot require you to use a particular shop. A trustworthy shop will help file the claim but will not promise approval.

How long after a windshield replacement can you drive?

Most drivers can leave within about an hour of a windshield replacement, but the safe drive-away time depends on the urethane adhesive, the temperature and the humidity. Some adhesives are rated for 30 minutes and others need longer. The installer should tell you the time before you get back in the car.

For the first day, it is common advice to avoid high-pressure car washes, leave any retention tape in place and keep a window slightly open to reduce pressure on the fresh seal.

What to check before you book a windshield replacement

Whatever state you live in, the same short list separates a careful installer from a rushed one:

  1. Ask whether ADAS calibration is included, which method your car needs, and whether it can be done on a mobile visit or only in the shop.
  2. Ask for the warranty in writing, including how long it lasts and what it excludes.
  3. Ask which glass will be used (OEM, OEM-equivalent or aftermarket) and whether that changes the price.
  4. Confirm whether the quote includes mobile service, new moldings and calibration, so the final bill matches.
  5. Ask for the safe drive-away time before the technician leaves.

This guide will be updated as companies change their services. If a company on this list changes its warranty or calibration method, the entry will be revised against the same criteria.
